Picture It!

Our class is participating in another project sponsored by Jen Wagner. We will be collaborating with 23 other classrooms to complete this project. The completed picture will be "Monet's Waterlilies Up Close" created by Deborah Craven. The picture has been divided into 24 parts.

Each class will color one part of the picture and mail it to the other classrooms. Our class is responsible for coloring piece #7 for all of the groups. This is what our piece looked like before we colored it:

We also filled out a form so the other classrooms could learn more about us. This is what our form looked like:
(this will be added tomorrow)

We created a bulletin board to put the completed squares on:

After the bulletin board was made, we started adding the pieces of the picture we have received up to this point. We have gotten 7 pieces of the picture.

The first piece we added was #18 from
Ms. Griffin's first grade class in Wichita, Kansas.

The second piece we added was #11 from
Miss Orr's second grade class in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

The third piece we added was #10 from
Ms. Morris' kindergarten class in Phoenix, Arizona.

The fourth piece we added was #19 from
Ms. McDonnell's first grade class in Avon, Connecticut.

The fifth piece we added was #22 from
Mrs. Walter's second grade class in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The sixth piece we added was #6 from
Ms. Walker's second grade class in Dacono, Colorado.

The seventh piece we added was #17 from
from Ms. Scholldorf's third grade class in Smithtown, New York.

These are all the pieces we have received so far. We will be making updates as we received more pieces!

Elf Applications

Today we wrote about the reasons we thought Santa should hire us as one of his elves. We had to come up with three reasons. We hope he will hire us!

As you can tell from the slideshow, we have been doing lots of gingerbread activities in our classroom.

We read lots of different books about gingerbread men, girls, cowboys, friends, pirates, and many other gingerbread creations. We talked about the title, characters, repeated phrase, and ending for each story. We were placed in groups, and each group chose one of the books we had read. We filled out information about the book. Then we got a large piece of brown paper and made a giant gingerbread house. They turned out really neat.

We also made gingerbread cookies. Mrs. Youngblut's daughter, Kelsey, came and helped us with this. We got to decorate them with frosting, Skittles, chocolate chips, and licorice. It was fun decorating them but even more fun eating them!
